Ainu is Roshi and Senorfrio, two childhood friends who started playing music together at a party about 5 years ago. Armed with only a pocket sampler, flanger, and a casio Keyboard, they entertained friends and family alike in Frio's basement. So began their mission to get booties shaking to their quirky beats. Since then, they've played lots of shows in many different venues, including an arcade (Ground Kontrol), a forest full of hippies (Phoenix Fest), a pizza parlor (It's a Beautiful Pizza), an art gallery (Genuine Imitation), Holocene, Battle of the Knobs, and the infamous Danny's in Chicago. However, their enthusiasm for playing live has never waned. The majority of their debut album, Octoporn, was recorded live with no edits, documenting the wild and crazy energy of their improvisations. After a track on the Portland Electro compilation Toast & Jam Nine and several self-released compilations and EPs, Ainu have finally finshed their debut album. Octoporn is the culmination of two and a half years of recording and experimenting in their personal studio. Dark experimental electro that turns on a dime, the album is a journey through glitch, darkness, and bass. Lots and lots of bass. |

DUAL's music is about the tension, release and intersection of sound-objects in space. Their musical textures have much in common with car crashes, dripping faucets and Godzilla in heat. DUAL's goal is to explore new traditions in live musique concrete using electronics and modern cultural artifacts acquired through economical means (broken cake mixers, water balloons, potato mashers, rubber hoses, Korean sand whistles...). |
